The art.kubus web app on desktop, dark theme: a map of central Ljubljana with photo markers along the river and an open artwork card for Emonian Man, showing a photograph, the credit Photo: Kasius Klej / CC BY 3.0 and the source Wikidata contributors.

art.kubus

art.kubus is a research-led art map and cross-platform application connecting artworks with the places in which they are encountered. Its map-first interface brings together discovery, attributed information and participation. The case study follows the interface and design system of the Flutter alpha prototype.

PROJECT
02
A wooden desk in a stone barn holding a keyboard, a laptop and two monitors, with white partition walls beyond.

Dialogue

Dialogue brings together a sound recording and photographs of an exhibition setting. Listening and photographic documentation offer parallel approaches to the work and its presentation in space.

PROJECT
03
A wide panorama of printed poster sheets with abstract blue, yellow and red graphic shapes and QR-code marks, pasted across a collaged wall.

kubus 1.0

The first stage of kubus developed six paired poster series for public space, each connected through QR codes to network-hosted content. The diploma research combined IPFS and ENS publishing with sound and augmented-reality experiments. Its concern with access, visibility and technological mediation informed the later iterations of kubus.

PROJECT
04
A rendered timber and glass showroom building among trees, with green banners reading SHOWROOM.

Gašper

An interactive 3D product configurator and presentation film for Gašper, a manufacturer of windows and doors. Developed through Reeba XR, the project is shown through a rotatable product model and the accompanying film.

PROJECT
05
The Temisa threshold screen: the logo and a short line of text over a soft meadow of white flowers.

Temisa

Visual identity and website design and development for Temisa. The project revisits a sun-and-horizon mark and establishes a restrained typographic language that continues into the website. A short threshold screen introduces the site before its main content; logo comparisons and responsive screenshots document the design decisions.

PROJECT
06
A rendered protein bar in the middle of a splash of chocolate, with banana pieces and chocolate fragments in the air.

Proteini.si

Animation for a Proteini.si advertising film produced at Rubikon Gral. The finished spot presents the moving-image work, with Rok Černezel credited for animation.

FULL RECORD

I work across visual communication, 2D and 3D motion design, technical and product visualization, interactive development and intermedia practice, with a particular interest in how digital infrastructures shape the production, circulation and visibility of art. I am based in Vienna and previously worked in Ljubljana.

Rok Černezel

I hold a master’s degree in Visual Communication Design from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO), University of Ljubljana, where I studied photography, with a formative study exchange at Academie Minerva in Groningen. My practice gradually moved from documentary photography toward conceptual, socially critical and intermedia work that connects images, spatial installations and digital technologies. The ongoing kubus project and the research-development platform art.kubus examine questions of access, visibility, participation and power in contemporary art. These questions are developed further in my scientific monograph Decentralizirane umetniške platforme (Kulturni center Maribor, 2026). Alongside this I work as a freelance 3D and motion designer; a selection of that work is gathered as commercial work.
