Exhibited on exhibition: Bounce MGBS
Exhibition text:
“Exhibition is a space through which we can enter the creative process. However odd it may sound, in the wrong order, the act of deconstructing a work highlights conditions as conditions, procedures as procedures, form and content as form and content. The determinants of the creative process remain unstable until they are organized through deconstruction into an internal and external field. Creation is defined through the difference between, for example, studio development and public presentation. Specifically, the difference arises with the second perspective, with the notion that an external viewpoint to which the work will be subjected exists. The external perspective, the viewpoint of the foreign subject, is of a disruptive nature, operating through a dual fantasy: it strips the work of authenticity and imbues it with meaning.
The creative process is thus articulated through a dialectic driven backwards and forwards by the external field. Performance, revelation, separation from the creator, and public exposure demystify the process and rewrite it into a readable linear order. We can simultaneously follow the creative act from point to point, milestones of meaning are established, and directions of necessity are determined. However, the linear transcription invariably becomes entangled, forming knots and cyclically reversing back to the starting point. This is what captivates us. In relation to the addressee, the exhibition does not change its function; it equally cuts into the flesh of creation for both lay viewers and professionals and creators. It imposes itself on everyone as a manifest thought, a present absence.
Bounce is the result of exploring ways of establishing dialogue through and with the exhibition, a dialogue among them, us, you, and everything that has accumulated in between.”
